California Dramatically Increases Penalties for Cal/OSHA Violations

​​​​​In a budget trailer bill this year (SB 96), the California Legislature increased the amount of several penalties for violations of state occupational safety and health laws. Last year, the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) increased their penalties and tied future increases to the Consumer Price Index (CPI). SB 96 was based on these recent federal increases.​
