Court Ruling: On-Duty Meal Periods Permissible for Perishable Products

California employers must provide their nonexempt employees with an uninterrupted meal period of no less than 30 minutes by the end of the employees’ fifth hour of work. If the employer requires employees to work through lunch, the employer owes those workers one hour of pay as a penalty.
