Editor’s note: This article was updated at 11:30 a.m. on September 18, 2019, to account for a recent announcement about the status of Component 2 reporting.

The EEO-1 annual compliance survey requires certain employers to report company employment data categorized by race/ethnicity and gender in each of 10 job categories. Employers who file EEO-1 reports have already submitted what is now referred to as “Component 1” demographic data (race/ethnicity, gender) for calendar year 2018 — but EEO-1 “Component 2” compensation data, covering pay and hours worked for calendar years 2017 and 2018, must be reported by September 30, 2019.
