Fair Credit Reporting Act Disclosure Must Be Separate, Not Solo

The Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) sets national standards for conducting background checks as part of pre-employment applicant screening. Despite its name, the FCRA applies not only to credit checks but also to “consumer reports.” These are investigations that go deeper into an applicant’s background, seeking information about that individual’s general character, reputation and personal characteristics.
