In many respects, the COVID-19 pandemic has altered the landscape of work and working relationships. Many employers took their work offsite and into the digital world of videoconferencing and chat applications. In the blink of an eye, the dynamic between coworkers, frontline supervisors and management changed — having little to no in-person interaction made it harder in some respects to keep tabs on conduct in the workplace.

But despite the fundamental shift in how work is performed and the way in which coworkers interact, many long-standing employment laws have not changed — including California’s workplace harassment and investigation laws.
