On April 7, 2020, then-Mayor of the City of Los Angeles Eric Garcetti issued an emergency order requiring certain employers to provide supplemental paid sick leave to workers affected by COVID-19. This supplemental paid sick leave is in addition to the requirements imposed by the Healthy Workplaces, Healthy Families Act (California Paid Sick Leave (PSL) Law) and the Los Angeles City Paid Sick Leave Ordinance. The emergency order provisions, highlighted below, became effective immediately upon Garcetti’s April 7, 2020, signature.
