• During the first several months of the COVID-19 pandemic, employers were directed to address COVID-19 infection control measures through their Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP) based on agency guidance and state and local health orders. Then, on November 19, 2020, the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health (Cal/OSHA) adopted a comprehensive and complex COVID-19 Emergency Temporary Standard (ETS) directing employers to address a variety of issues related to COVID-19 in the workplace, including establishing and implementing a written COVID-19 Prevention Program detailing the systems and protocols in place for mitigating and responding to COVID-19 infections in the workplace. The ETS was revised on June 17, 2021.
