Accommodating Residual Effects of a Disability
HRCalifornia
Employers must reasonably accommodate an employee who suffers from the “residual effects of a disability.”
This means that even if an employee isn’t currently disabled, the employer must work with the employee to accommodate doctors’ appointments, monitoring, or other issues related to the prior disability. Employers may not have to accommodate the residual effects of a disability if doing so will cause the business undue hardship.1
