Grocery Store and Pharmacy Closures

Covered grocery and pharmacy establishments that close and cease operations must provide advance closure notices to their employees and other parties.¹ This requirement is similar to, but distinct from, the federal and state WARN laws. In certain circumstances, both laws may apply, and covered employers must ensure they comply with both.

Covered Establishments

For purposes of this law, a “grocery establishment” is a retail store operating in California that meets both of the following requirements:²
