All employers must provide employees with written notice about:

  • The rights of employees that are victims, or whose family members are victims, of qualifying act of violence to take protected time off for medical treatment, services, legal proceedings to obtain any relief, or leave for criminal judicial proceedings related to the specific crime;
  • Rights to accommodation;
  • Protections against discrimination.
  • Potential eligibility for CFRA if victim’s leave taken because of the employee’s or their family member’s serious health condition.
  • Potential eligibility for wage replacement under SDI, PFL or other programs administered by the Employment Development Department.
  • Eligibility for bereavement leave if they are a family member of a deceased victim.1
