Defamation Protection After Harassment Complaint

  • Effective January 1, 2019, California employers and victims of sexual harassment are better protected from liability for defamation by an alleged harasser after a complaint of sexual harassment has been made.1 Defamation is a claim for injury to one's reputation resulting from a false written or oral statement.
