• The City of Emeryville issued a guidance document, COVID-19 (Coronavirus Disease) and Emeryville’s Paid Sick Leave Law, regarding the use of Emeryville paid sick leave during the current COVID-19 pandemic.

  • Employers covered under the ordinance must allow their employees to use paid sick leave in a number of situations related to COVID-19, such as needing time off because:

    • The employee, while not sick, is required or recommended to isolate/quarantine, or is caring for a family member who is required or recommended to isolate/quarantine.
    • The employee is in a “vulnerable population” under state guidance or “any other official subsequent updates.”
    • The employee’s business or work location temporarily ceases operations in response to a public health or other public official’s recommendation.
    • The employee is providing care for a family member whose school/daycare or senior care provider temporarily ceases operations in response to a public health or other public official’s recommendation.
