​As of July 11, 2016, the City of San Diego (the City or San Diego) provides mandatory paid sick leave under the City's Minimum Wage Ordinance (the Ordinance). The Ordinance requires you to provide a minimum amount of paid sick leave (the San Diego Sick Leave or SDSL) to employees working in San Diego.

As of July 1, 2015, California law provides mandatory paid sick leave under the Healthy Workplaces, Healthy Families Act (the State Law). You are required to comply with both the Ordinance and the State Law.

When the two laws differ, you must follow whichever is more generous to employees.​
