As noted previously, approximately 2 million American workers report being victims of workplace violence each year. This number accounts for only those incidents that are documented and reported; it’s estimated that 40 percent of employees who are threatened and 24 percent of those who experience “hands on” violence never report the incident. These numbers suggest a need for all employers to assess their business type (location, patrons, etc.) for a heightened potential for violence.
