Large Retailer Settles for $72.5 Million in Class Action Wage Case

The old adage that “time is money” is abundantly true in California wage and hour law, when failing to pay employees for the time they work for you — even if it’s mere minutes to enter or exit the workplace — might result in serious and expensive consequences.

Claims for past wages become even more costly when workers file class-action lawsuits or collective actions under the Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA), which can include large groups of employees and lead to significant financial exposure, as is illustrated by a recent class-action settlement.
