When Outside Sales Isn’t Outside Sales: Control of Worker May Preclude Exemption

California employees are broadly classified into two categories: those who are exempt from most wage and hour laws, and those who are nonexempt. Outside salespersons who meet specific requirements, including working most of the time away from an employer’s place of business, are considered exempt employees.
