Understand the Warning Signs and Risk Factors for Workplace Violence

Imagine this scene: A man walks into a business. He barges past the receptionist and seeks out his ex-wife. Once he finds her, he assaults her physically, punching and choking her. The ex-wife's co-workers attempt to stop the attack by grabbing the husband and trying to pull him off. The assailant then removes a gun from his waistband and shoots two of the co-workers. The police have arrived and order the man to put down his gun - but he points it at them, so they shoot and kill him. Later in the day, media representatives conduct interviews with the ex-wife's co-workers, who describe the husband as “tightly wound” but “not violent.” They suggest that the husband must have just “lost it,” which is a common myth.
